Junior Year Career Planning Checklist:
· Continue to establish strong relationships with faculty member in & out of your major.
· Study abroad and/or complete at least one internship in a field you are curious about.
· Take on a leadership role in sports or in an organization; get involved in national organizations, too.
· Stay involved in community-based activities. Visit the Volunteer Center.
· Attend workshops, presentations, and review the CDO web frequently.
· Visit the CDO web and review the resume writing, CDO Site-ings, and other sections.
· It is time to become a 'regular' at the CDO - spend lots of time in the CDO library, on the CDO Web, and stop into walk-in advising frequently.
· Obtain information about graduate and professional school opportunities and the required pre-professional tests and prepare for them.
· Update your resume.
· Review fellowship information and decide on those to which you will apply.
· Read every email sent by the CDO.
· Use faculty members in your major to discuss your interests and options. They often stay in touch with their graduates and can really help you keep your academic record strong.
· Get a reference from your summer employer before your senior year.
· Use the alumni career advisor database and identify a mentor who can assist you.
· Make a tentative decision about your career plans.
· Attend the Career Fair & Conference, Non-Profit Forums, & Teacher Career Fair.
