Organization Description:
Earth Economics has a mission of advancing and applying the science of
ecological economics to promote healthy ecosystems, communities and economies.
We work in the local Puget Sound region and around the world on projects
fulfilling three primary program objectives:
Developing and using economic tools to support projects and policies designed to
protect and restore ecosystems and local economies.
Providing clients with technical training and subject matter expertise to
support effective policies for management of public and private resources.
Reviewing current and collaborating on new international finance and trade
agreements that recognize the full value of humans and the environment.
Internship Description:
Students will learn about the field of ecological economics as well as about the
workings of the non-profit sector. They will gain hands on experience in
ecological economics, environmental advocacy, coalition building and non-profit
fundraising. Depending on interest and ability, some students may be able to
develop independent research projects that support our overall mission.
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting staff with economics research with an emphasis on ecological
issues, sustainable development & progressive economic theory
- Event planning and coordination
- Writing, editing, layout and design
- Assisting with grant seeking, fundraising, grant writing
- IT support
- Web design and maintenance
- Support in the areas of communication and publicity (media, internet,
phone, website, campus, etc.
- Occasional general office administration
Qualifications:
Students must be interested in learning how a non-governmental organization
(NGO) works. Must be able to multitask, work independently and be self
motivated. Candidate should possess, or desire to improve the following: strong
communication skills, basic economics literacy, strong computer skills,
proficient research ability, have an interest in environmental and social
justice issues, and some background or interest in finance and trade.

invite top candidates back to interview.
Schedule Info:
Approximately 10 weeks, full-time internship (35-40 hours per week - flexible), running approximately late May
through middle of August (flexible).
Compensation Info:
$3000 Total allotment, student responsible for own housing in Tacoma area.
Pomona College Donor Funded Healthcare-Related Internship

Internship Location: dependent upon internship selected
Internship Description:
Pomona sophomores, juniors, and seniors receiving financial aid are eligible to
apply for this all-expenses-paid summer internship made possible by a Pomona
donor and his employer: The Regence Group.
Students are to choose their own company/organization in one of the following
Healthcare-related fields:
- Direct Service
- Public Policy
- Finance
- Research
The Company/Organization of your choice must:
- be willing to supervise you in an educational, full-time internship for
a minimum of 10 weeks
- be willing to complete an intern evaluation at the end of the summer
