Commentaries or Essays can be sent to:
Morning Edition
Email: mecommentary@npr.org
Length: 2.5 minutes to read, about 450 words
A two-hour mix of news, analysis, interviews, commentaries, arts, features and music, Morning Edition is heard Monday through Friday on more than 600 NPR stations across the United States, and around the globe on NPR Worldwide.

All Things Considered
Email: atccommentary@npr.org
Length: 2.5 minutes to read, about 450 words
Airs the day's big stories on the air, bringing them alive through sound and voice. For two hours every weekday, All Things Considered senior host Robert Siegel and his co-hosts present the program's trademark mix of news, interviews, commentaries, reviews, and offbeat features.

For Both Programs:

  • Send your commentary with the word "Commentary Submission" in the subject line
  • Looking for essays that tell a tale, reveal a personal reflection, or add an informed perspective to events in the news.
  • Pieces that express an original idea with clear, creative writing.
  • While many essays are from regularly scheduled commentators, they also want to hear from people who can comment on a once-only basis.
  • Send one or two written commentaries in the body of the e-mail. Because of security and virus concerns, they are unable to open e-mails with attachments.
  • Include your name, address, daytime telephone number, and e-mail address.
  • NPR may edit submissions for clarity or brevity and identify authors by name and location.
