Emergency Preparation

Being prepared and staying calm are key to surviving any emergency with minimal personal damage. Panic can be the greatest hazard.

Adequate planning saves lives, reduces suffering, and preserves property by enabling individuals to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Pomona College's Emergency Preparedness Plan depends on the cooperation of the entire College community for its effectiveness. Stay calm and follow the plan worked out with others in your building, department, and across campus. Following the plan will save lives and minimize damage.

Your responsibility is to determine the escape route and safe room closest to your dorm room or work location, and to know your building coordinator. Escape routes are posted in building hallways. The College stores a 72-hour supply of food and water. You also may want to purchase or assemble a personal disaster preparedness kit.
