Internationally Acclaimed Organist Martin Jean to
Perform at Pomona College

Organist Martin Jean, past winner of the international Grand
Prix de Chartres (1986) and director of the Yale Institute
for Sacred Music, will perform Marcel Dupre’s The
Stations of the Cross at Pomona College on Saturday,
March 24th at 8 p.m. The concert will take place at Bridges
Hall of Music (150 E. Fourth St., Claremont). For further

Jean, also professor of organ at Yale University, has
performed in all 50 states and four continents. He was the
first place winner at the National Young Artists’
Competition in Organ Performance in 1992.
Jean has released two compact discs on the Loft Recordings
label: The Seven Last Words of Christ by Charles
Tournemire (2007) and The Complete Symphonies of
Louis Vierne (2005).
The Hill Memorial Organ at Pomona College was built by C.B.
Fisk of Gloucester, Massachusetts as their Opus 117 and
dedicated in October 2002. A three-manual instrument with
mechanical action designed to play the whole range of organ
literature, it is especially appropriate for French music of
the 19th and 20th centuries. The organ consists of 49 voices
and 60 ranks containing a total of 3,519 pipes.
