Pomona
College Financial Aid Ranked #2 in Nation by Students In
2007 Princeton Review |
 |
Pomona College was ranked #2 for “Students Happy with
Financial Aid” in the new 2007 edition of Princeton Review’s
annual book, "The Best 361 Colleges." Pomona is one of only
a handful of colleges that has need-blind admissions and
meets the full need of every student accepted to the
college. This includes tuition, room and board, and other
expenses. Princeton University topped the category.
Pomona College, located in Southern California, was also #1
in the category “School Runs Like Butter,” #6 for “Dorms
Like Palaces,” #10 for “Best Quality of Life,” and #11 for
“Best Overall Academic Experience for Undergraduates,” among
other categories.
Rankings for the book’s 60 lists are based solely on student
surveys. According to Princeton Review, “a school's
appearance on these lists indicates a high consensus among
its surveyed students about the topic. The 80-question
survey asks students about their school's academics /
administration, campus life, student body, and themselves.”
Ranking list tallies for the 2007 edition are based on
surveys of 115,000 students.
In other recently released rankings, Pomona Colleges was
named one of “25 New Ivies” by Kaplan/Newsweek. In the 2007
U.S.News & World Report’s guide “America's Best
Colleges,” Pomona ranked seventh among all liberal arts
colleges. Among its peers, Pomona was also listed at #5 for
“Great Schools, Great Prices,” #10 for “Least Debt” on
graduation and #10 for racial diversity.
Pomona College administrators were pleased to again be named
among the nation’s leading small liberal arts colleges.
“We’re very pleased that Pomona’s high-quality education
continues to be recognized,” said David Oxtoby, Pomona's
president. “At the heart of the Pomona educational
experience are challenging courses, close student-faculty
relationships, opportunities for student research and
collaboration, and an intellectually nurturing community.
We’re fortunate to have the financial resources to make a
Pomona education available to every accepted student by
meeting full financial need.”
Pomona College is the founding member of the distinguished
Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five independent
undergraduate and two graduate institutions.
