Professor Ralph Bolton Honored by Prestigious Science

Pomona
College Professor of Anthropology Ralph Bolton has been named a fellow in
the American Association for the Advancement of Science
(AAAS).
Bolton is a 1961 graduate of Pomona College and has been a
professor at Pomona since 1971. His research interests lie
primarily in the domains of human sexuality and medical
anthropology, particularly AIDS prevention issues. The
emphasis in his recent work is on gay male sexuality and
gay culture. He is also investigating the life of Witter Bynner, a gay poet who was a major figure in Santa Fe, New
Mexico, society and intellectual circles in the early 20th
century.
In September, the AAAS Council elected 348 members as
Fellows of AAAS. These individuals will be recognized for
their contributions to science at the Fellows Forum to be
held on February 14, 2004, during the AAAS Annual Meeting in
Seattle. The new Fellows will receive a certificate and a
blue-and-gold rosette pin as a symbol of their distinguished
accomplishments.

Advancement of Science is the world's largest general
scientific society, publisher of Science. AAAS and its
journal, Science, report nearly 140,000 individual and
institutional subscribers, plus 272 affiliated organizations
in more than 130 countries, serving a total of 10-million
individuals.
Pomona College, founding member of the prestigious Claremont
Colleges, is one of the nation’s premier liberal arts
