Renewal of Aid
While some families may wonder if there is a cutoff for financial aid eligibility based on income or asset levels, eligibility is not limited by a simple income ceiling. The factors that determine the parent’s ability to pay for college costs include family income, assets, total number of family members, and the number of family members enrolled in college. Necessary family expenses such as taxes, reasonable living cost, and medical expenses also affect aid eligibility.

We encourage students and parents to familiarize themselves with the aid process through the information on our website and in our publications. Families may wish to use the College Board’s financial aid calculator ( please see the note below about using the College Board's financial aid calculator ) to get an approximation of their calculated family contribution. Students and parents may also wish to contact the Office of Financial Aid directly with specific questions about the aid process or questions about the specifics of their situation.

A note about the College Board's financial aid calculator: When assessing the financial strength of families applying for aid, Pomona College modifies the standard Institutional Methodology as reflected in the College Board's financial aid calculator. Typically these modifications result in a more favorable outcome for the family.  If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
