Travel Study
The Antebellum South Along the Intracoastal Waterway
March 12-19, 2005
Cruise on the Nantucket Clipper, from Jacksonville through the
intracoastal waterways toward Charleston. Visit stately mansions and
historic districts, discovering treasures along the way. Joining alumni
travelers will be Professor of Art History Frances K. Pohl, who will
examine art and architecture from early history through the antebellum
period. Pohl authored Framing America: A Social History of American Art.
Prices begin at $2,170*.
African Family Safari
Aug. 19-Sept. 1, 2005
Visit Cape Town, Addo Elephant Reserve, Leopard Hills Private Game
Reserve and Johannesburg on this family safari through South Africa.
Join Katherine Hagedorn, associate professor of music and 2000
California Professor of the Year, as the group discovers life in a
working village. With Hagedorn’s background in ethnomusicology, she will
take the group on an exploration of performance traditions. Price
$8,672*.
An optional extension to the trip takes the group to Zambia and
Victorial Falls through Sept. 4. Price $1,266*.
