Sagehen Soccer Successes: Men's Team Ties for First Place; Women's Team Makes Dramatic Turnaround From Last Year
The Pomona-Pitzer men's soccer team finished the season 12-2 in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, making them co-champions with the University of Redlands Bulldogs. Those two teams will face off in a single playoff game to determine which will represent the conference at the NCAA Division III National Championships. The playoff game is set for noon on Saturday, Nov. 6 at Claremont McKenna College. Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands squared off twice during the regular season, with each team winning a game.
The women's soccer team, which plays its final game of the season today, already has locked down second place in SCIAC, a huge improvement over last year's seventh-place showing. First-year goalkeeper Kelsyn Bevins (pictured above), whose 0.737 goals allowed average was the best in Pomona-Pitzer history, helped fuel the Sagehens' success.
