Pomona College Theatre Presents Sondheim’s “Into the Woods”
Follow Little Red Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf, the Wicked Witch, Cinderella, and other storybook characters as they romp through the forest of life to follow their dreams and chase their demons. Pomona College Professor Boots Pascual directs this production of Stephen Sondheim’s Tony Award-winning musical “Into the Woods.” Performances will be held November 17-19 at 8:00 p.m., and November 19-20 at 2 p.m.
To undo the Witch’s curse preventing them from having children, the Baker and his wife go into the woods to gather several magical items. There they meet Red Riding Hood, who's just escaped the clutches of the Wolf, and enlist the aid of a number of other characters from other stories (Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Rapunzel, etc.). Throughout their adventures these fairy-tale characters are confronted with the problems of the real world.
“Into the Woods” performances will be held at the Pomona College Seaver Theatre (300 E. Bonita Avenue, Claremont). Admission is $5 for faculty, staff, students and senior citizens; $10 general admission. For further information call the Theatre at: (909) 607-4375 or (909) 621-8525. Box office hours are Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
