In the Los Angeles Times article, "San Gabriel Mountains a daunting place to fight fire," Environmental Analysis professor Char Miller and Geology professor Rick Hazlett discuss  why the natural architecture of the San Gabriel Mountains make them prone to wildfires and why it's so difficult for firefighters to battle flames on its slopes. This article was written while the Station Fire, the largest wildfire in Los Angeles' modern history, burned.
