Junior High Students Perform "As You Like It" Interwoven with Personal Stories at Pomona College
On Tuesday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m. a group of Pomona middle school students will perform their version of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, interwoven with their own stories echoing the themes of loyalty, family and friendship.
Pomona College students mentor the 7th and 8th-grade students from Fremont Academy of Engineering & Design. The middle school students are involved in every aspect of the production: adapting the play to their experiences, and making decisions about staging, acting, costume design, and general production needs. This collaboration, “Theater for Young Audiences,” is now in its third year and led by Rose Portillo '75, an accomplished theater and visual artist, as well as an experienced youth arts programmer and instructor.
A public performance will be held at Pomona College at 7:30 p.m. at the Seaver Theatre Complex (300 E. Bonita St., Claremont). There is no cost to attend. For more information, call (909) 621-8186.
