Martha Marich '12 Awarded Prestigious Division III Lacrosse Honor

Women's lacrosse player Martha Marich '12, Pomona College

In September, the NCAA honored Martha Marich ‘12 as the nation’s scoring leader in goals per game for Division III Women’s Lacrosse. In the 2010 season, Martha averaged 6.35 goals a game and ended the season with 113 goals.

When asked about receiving this award for the first time in the program’s history, Martha responded, “It’s obviously an honor to be acknowledged for my performance on the lacrosse field and to represent the Sagehen’s lacrosse program in such a positive way. My teammates are a huge contributor in me getting this award and I look forward to the upcoming season.”

Last spring at the end of the 2010 season, Marich also received First-Team All SCIAC conference honors from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and Division III Second Team All-West Regional Honors. In addition to leading the nation in Division III goals per game, Marich was also number one in points per game, shots per game and draw controls (93) within SCIAC.

Senior captain Kira Watson ‘10 and junior captain Hannah T’Kindt ‘11 received second team honors. Watson was second in the league in assists with a total of 19 this past season, and contributed 27 goals and 45 draw controls. T’Kindt contributed 27 goals, 36 ground balls, and 36 draw controls this season.
