Women's Cross-Country Athlete Anne Lydens '13 Awarded SCIAC "Runner of the Year"

Anne Lydens, SCIAC Runner of the Year

Anne Lydens '13 has been awarded the SCIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year award in recognition of her first-place finish at SCIAC Multi-Duals and second-place finish at SCIAC Championships. Lydens will represent the Pomona-Pitzer Cross-Country Women's Team at Regionals in Salem, Oregon, on November 13.

At the SCIAC Championships on October 30, the young Pomona-Pitzer squad persevered through muddy conditions and a bewildering midrace course change to finish fifth. Consistently a league frontrunner, Lydens crossed the finish line in second place, eight seconds behind Whittier’s Michele Callaway and two seconds ahead of Jennie Tave from Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Roxanne Cook PI '13 finished second for the Sagehens and 26th overall, closely followed by Dot Silverman '14 and Naomi Wagner '13. Kate Brieger '11 ran fifth for the team, overcoming a foot injury that has plagued her since the season’s outset.
