Crossword by Joe Fagliano '14 to Be Published Saturday in The New York Times

Joel Fagliano ’14 will have his first themeless crossword puzzle published in the New York Times this coming Saturday, Feb. 12, 2010. Among crossword puzzle solvers, New York Times puzzles are considered the best for their quality and intellectual challenge. Saturday will mark Fagliano’s third puzzle to be published in the New York Times. He’s also had two puzzles published in the Los Angeles Times.

According to crossword puzzle fan Neil Gerard, associate dean, “The convention for most newspaper puzzles is that Monday is the easiest and they get harder as the week progresses. This ends on Saturday with the most difficult puzzle. Sunday, which is the largest puzzle, 21 x 21, is usually of a Wednesday or Thursday difficulty. So, when you get published as a Saturday puzzle, it's a double honor.”
