Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (1879), a critique of men’s and women’s roles in 19th-century marriage, set theatre in a new, modern direction, with its themes of change, independence and the struggle to face reality and become a full human being. In the play, the character Nora must mature by leaving comfortable illusions and lies of childhood dollhouses.
Pomona College Professor of Theatre Leonard Pronko is the director. Visit http://theatre.pomona.edu/2012/11/a-doll-house-video-interview/ to view a video interview with him about the play.
