This week in Pomona-Pitzer Athletics saw the four winter programs combine for a 9-1 week, including a dramatic home win for the Men's Basketball team against Chapman on Wednesday.

Men's Basketball was pushed to the brink by Chapman at Voelkel Gymnasium on Wednesday, but came away with a big 90-85 win in double-overtime, and then completed a 2-0 week with a 83-74 road win over Whittier. Kyle McAndrews '15 had a huge week with the two biggest scoring games of his career, tallying 32 in the win over Chapman and 28 in the win at Whittier. In the Chapman game, the Sagehens trailed by three points with 35 seconds left, but McAndrews hit a 12-footer and a three-pointer on back-to-back possessions to put Pomona-Pitzer ahead 66-64. Chapman, though, tied it with 4.4 seconds left and forced overtime.

In the first overtime, John Weiss '14 scored the first five points to put the Sagehens ahead 71-66, but Chapman stormed back and led 75-74 with 11 seconds left, when McAndrews had a three-point play to give Pomona-Pitzer the lead again. However, once again, the Panthers responded and scored on a putback at the buzzer to force a second overtime. This time, though, the Sagehens surged in front and kept the lead, as Jake Klewer '14 scored on a putback, Xavyr Moss PI '14 had a driving scoop shot, and McAndrews added a driving layup to put the Sagehens ahead 83-77. McAndrews added another basket and three free throws in the second overtime to finish with 32 points.

McAndrews then added 17 of his 28 points at Whittier in the second half as the Sagehens maintained a double-digit lead for almost the entire second half. Michael Cohen '15, who finished with 17 points, hit three-pointers on the first two Pomona-Pitzer possessions after halftime to push the lead to 12, and Gibson Farone-Collins '16 had his first career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, after scoring a career-high 11 in the win over Chapman.

Women's Basketball played without leading scorer Jenn Okonkwo '15 this week and split two games, falling to Chapman at home on Thursday 52-44 and winning at Whittier 65-45. Basha Brulee-Wills PI '17 scored in double figures for the Sagehens in both games, scoring 15 against Chapman and 19 against Whittier, while Alice Timken '16 added 10 points against Whittier.

The Swimming and Diving teams both went 3-0 this week with three lopsided wins, defeating Wheaton (Mass.) on Tuesday and sweeping a SCIAC tri-meet from Occidental and Caltech on Saturday. On the men's side, Kyle Dalrymple PI '17 became only the fourth swimmer to break a minute in the 100-yard breaststroke against Wheaton with a 59.81, and then passed that on Saturday with a 59.32. Danny Villars '17 broke the 2:00 mark in the 200-yard butterfly with a 1:59.81 on Saturday and won the 200-yard IM as well, while Daniel To '17 won the 200-yard backstroke by 16 seconds.
