Pomona College Lecture on Children's Author Shel Silverstein
Joseph Thomas, director of the National Center for the Study of Children's Literature at San Diego State University, will deliver a talk at Pomona College on the noted children’s author, poet, songwriter and illustrator Shel Silverstein. The lecture is titled “The Devil's Favorite Pet: Shel Silverstein, an American Iconoclast,” and will be held on Wednesday, March 12, at 4:15 p.m.
Thomas has published Poetry's Playground: The Culture of Contemporary American Children's Poetry, which was the Children's Literature Association's Honor Book in 2009, and a book of poetry titled Strong Measures. He is working on an analytical biography of Silverstein.
