Video Oral History Program
Beginning in 1999, with the generous financial support of the Freeman
Foundation, the archive established a video oral history program to
visually document the experiences of American veterans. Our project
began with a focus on the U.S. Navy’s Japanese Language School during
World War II. To date, 60 former teachers and students have been
interviewed. We are continuing our interviews in order to capture the
memories of as many subjects as possible before time and age take a
toll.
To date, over 100 former teachers and students have been interviewed. We
