Student Film Announcements

The Pacific Basin Institute announces a call for proposals for the 2013 Student Summer Grant Program. Grants are provided for Pomona students to travel during summer 2013 to Pacific Rim Countries to work on a short documentary on the student’s proposed topic. Students can also apply to do work in other parts of the world if they are interested in issues pertaining to or that link the Pacific Region (for example, the topic of Asian migrants in Africa or Latin America). No prior film experience is required. Students will work with a professional film editor in the fall when they return from overseas to produce a final 10-minute documentary that will be screened to the College community. If your proposal is chosen, PBI will provide you with a camera and partial or full funding to help finance your trip.

Interested applicants should submit a 2-page single-spaced written proposal with details about what you hope to capture in your short documentary film and how this project relates to your studies and future goals. Applicants should also submit a detailed budget, a recommendation letter from a faculty sponsor, and a timeline of completion to pbi@pomona.edu
