Distinguished Staff Award
Each year, a member of the Pomona College staff is recognized for distinguishing herself or himself some way through service or effort beyond what is required in their daily job with the Distinguished Staff Award. The Pomona College Staff Council is a group of staff members who work to enhance the role of staff with the College community through meetings, communications, and events designed to foster both a voice and staff identity amongst all staff members. Staff Council's role and goals, adopted by staff in September 2001 can viewed here (PDF of by-laws).
Regular Pomona College employees who work nine months a year and 20 hours a week, who are not faculty members, and who have been employed by the College for a minimum of one year may serve on Staff Council. Ten members are chosen to represent the following College constituencies: two members from the Academic Departments, four members from the AdminstrativeDepartments, and four members from the Service staff. Each member serves a three-year term. Membership specific by-laws adopted by staff and staff council in 2001 provide details and can be viewed here (PDF of by-laws).
