Southern California/Community Service Hybrid Adventure
Eager to see L.A. and also lend a hand to those in need? The SoCal/CommServ
Adventure enjoys an itinerary that combines aspects of community service with
the recreational activities of the SoCal trip. You will visit a theme park
visit, time at the beach, a trip to the Getty, an evening activity in the city,
and several community service activities.
With
hundreds of volunteer and charitable organizations in
the area, Los Angeles is truly a city of angels. You
can become one of them. Over the course of this
four-day trip, designed to introduce you to the service
opportunities surrounding Pomona, you will learn about
L.A.’s diverse population and efforts to address social
and environmental issues. By helping local charitable
groups, such as soup kitchens and beach cleanup crews,
you’ll assist those in need and bond with your fellow
group members.
In addition to your service efforts, you’ll be able to sightsee and enjoy
some of the area’s unique attractions, such as the Santa Monica beach and the
Getty museum. At the end of each long, 12-16 hour day, you’ll return to the
comforts of your dorm room, where you can relax with your group members and make
dinner. This trip is an excellent one for those students looking for a
meaningful and fun start to college.
