most suits your desires and abilities. These descriptions are not intended as
comprehensive itineraries and are subject to change.

You want beautiful mountain views, but you don’t want to
squat behind a tree. You’d like experience the
challenges of the wilderness, but sleep in a warm bed
and wake up to pancakes and a hot shower. If this
sounds like you, then Halona is your trip. Nestled in
the Strawberry Valley, in the small town of Idyllwild,
is Halona, Pomona’s own cabin. The cabin offers a
kitchen, beds, a fireplace, and a modern bathroom, and
serves as your gateway to the surrounding San Jacinto
wilderness. You can explore the surrounding mountains
on foot; wander up Tahquitz Peak or through Fern Valley,
exploring streams and meadows. You’ll also have the
chance to participate in a professionally-run ropes
“challenge” course, an exciting team-building activity.
Halona
participants will drive into Palm Springs and catch the Aerial Tramway for the
scenic, 5,873-vertical-foot boost into the high country. A variety of short
hikes will earn you sweeping views of the desert valley a mile below and the
contrasting granitic landscapes of the San Bernardino Mountains. After a lunch
in the clouds, you can descend into Palm Springs and spend the day splashing
around at Knott’s Soak City water park. You might catch a movie and pizza on
your way back to the cabin.
At the end of the day, you will have the chance to share
stories, play games, and pitch in to cook dinner. Enjoy the mountain on your
own terms!
