Now that you have received a trip assignment, there are just a few more things
you need to do to prepare for Orientation Adventure.
- For Beach, Socal, Biking, Community Engagement, Kayaking, Surfing, and Halona
trips you must complete a liability form. Print and Sign the
required waivers
and liability forms before arriving on campus. You will be required to show
the forms at Check-In on August 22nd.
- If your trip requires a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and/or a multi-day
frame pack and you would like to borrow one, please make sure to include the
request in your trip sign up form. If you have not reserved on your trip
sign up form (in the portal) then we can not guarantee one will be
available.
- If you will be under 18 at the time of your participation in OA and your
parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are not arriving on campus with you in August,
download and complete the
Liability Release form to
take with you to campus.
Each of these steps is explained in more detail below. You might also want to
review our Arriving at Pomona page for information about arriving on campus in
August. As always, a coordinator will be happy to assist you by phone (909
607-2531) or by email (oa@pomona.edu) if you have further questions.

Gear Rentals
If your trip requires you to pack a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and/or frame
pack and you do not already own these items OR you did NOT request these items
on your trip sign up form (in the Portal), Orientation Adventure can arrange a
gear rental for you from a local sporting goods outfitter. Any gear you request
will be checked out to you on Sunday, August 22nd, and will be collected from
you when your OA trip returns to campus on Friday, August 27th. OA will
transport the gear from and to the outfitter. To request gear, please send a list of the items you
would like us to prepare to oa@pomona.edu.
FAQ: Should I rent a frame pack/sleeping bag/sleeping pad or buy my own?
Liability
All OA participants must sign
liability release forms in order to
participate in the program. This form will be collected from participants when
they check into their dorm rooms on Sunday, August 22nd. You may download,
print, and complete this form prior to arriving on campus, or you may obtain and
fill it out when you check in this August.
If you will be under 18 at the time of your participation in OA, your parent or
legal guardian must co-sign the liability release form. Your parent or legal
guardian must also sign a form consenting to the treatment of a minor in case of
medical emergency. If your parent or legal guardian will be arriving on campus
with you on August 22nd, you may obtain and sign the necessary forms at that
time. If not, you must download, print, and complete the liability release form
and bring it with you to campus. Students without completed liability release
forms cannot take part in Orientation Adventure. Under-18 participants in our
kayaking, canoeing, surfing, and sailing adventures should also note that our
outfitters may require you and your parent or legal guardian to sign an
additional liability release form. We will notify you of any such additional
forms as soon as our outfitters advise us of their necessity.
