the Sustainability Integration Office! |

Please excuse our
dust and delay as the College transitions to a new website.
For more information, contact
sustainability@pomona.edu.
Pomona College is committed to leadership in
sustainability, just as we are committed to leadership in
providing an excellent educational experience. This includes
sustainability leadership in campus operations, academic
curriculum, extra-curricular opportunities, and outreach to
the wider community. We have a strong history with student
involvement in sustainability efforts, and are continuously
seeking ways to broaden our efforts and outreach about the
world's pressing environmental issues and crises.
On this website, you
can find information about Pomona's current and planned
sustainability initiatives, the College's
sustainability-related policies, and about ways to get
involved and contribute to Pomona's sustainability
initiatives.

Updated
Environmental Policy Approved
On May 16, 2009, the Board of Trustees approved an update to
the College's Statement of Environmental Policy. This policy
explicitly states the College's commitment to sustainability
and sets new standards and requirements for decision-making
in four key areas: capital projects, budgetary and financial
planning, education and research, and assessment and review.
It also formally creates the Sustainability Integration
Office, headed by Bowen Patterson Close.

Faculty Discuss Sustainability at Retreat
At this year's Trustee-Faculty Retreat, Pomona's Board and
Faculty spent two days discussing sustainability both
globally and locally, learning from high-profile plenary
speakers about global issues and discussing in breakout
sessions how Pomona should move forward with sustainability
goals.
