What are you looking for? What type of experience do you want? Career related? Something fun? Outdoor? Academic Research? Corporate? Non-profit? Education? Each of those searches will include slightly different approaches and resources. Be sure to look at professional associations in your fields of interest for possible job or internship boards!

  • Handshake:  Positions listed on Handshake are posted specifically for Claremont Colleges – these organizations are looking for students like YOU. Internships are posted all the time so be sure to keep up with what is listed!
  • Internships.com:
    • Search by major, job category, preferred city, and company. Includes internship basics, intern stories blog, and tips for applications and interviews. Check out the Internship Predictor®, a tool that uses your preferences and personality to help you find opportunities that will be the best fit for you!
    • Register for account for full access. Icons posted in upper right-hand corner of each listing tells if position is paid, full-time or part-time, or requires you receive college credit (or transcript notation for Pomona).
  • Idealist.org:
    • Worldwide opportunities and organizations – focused on making a difference in the world. Search by area of focus, location (worldwide), pay and even by language! Updates frequently, so check back often! Be sure to search on organizations doing interesting work then contact them directly.
  • MediaBistro:
    • Largest job board in the United States for media professionals. Start by filtering for internships specifically otherwise you will have to wade through full time positions to get to the ones you want.
  • Glassdoor:
    • Glassdoor gets its internship listings from several sources, including company websites, partnerships with job boards and directly from employers. Can include pay in the search process.
  • Google:
    • Don’t underestimate the power of a Google search. You will find new (sometimes local) sites listing opportunities that you hadn’t found elsewhere.
  • Internmatch.com:
    • San Francisco based. Specializes in internship and entry level jobs.
    • Listings from 30,000 companies
  • CoolWorks:
    • Not specifically internships, more for seasonal positions (especially summer) geared toward young people. It offers opportunities “in great places like national parks, resorts, ranches, camps, ski resorts, and jobs on the water”. Many locations hire international students on CPT. Many provide housing as part of the position.
  • NIH Summer Internship Program in BioMedical Research (SIP):
    • Spend a summer working at the NIH side-by-side with some of the leading scientists in the world, in an environment devoted exclusively to biomedical research. Several “sub” programs. Early application.
  • CEI Internship Boards:
    • This is a paid resource.  Students & alums can access through Handshake
    • Access to numerous subscription internship boards in various fields.
  • Opportunities in Public Affairs:
    • This is a paid resource.  Students & alums can access through Handshake
    • Positions on Capitol Hill, Policy, Government Affairs, PR, Communications, Journalism, Research, Legislative, Writing, and special section for Internships
  • Capitol Daybook:
