The Career Development Office offers two distinguished internship programs. The programs aid students in the process of exploring and determining a career path, gain a rich understanding of a particular field and/or organization, build and grow their professional networks, and enhance the understanding of how their liberal arts education will be applied in a professional work environment.

Pomona College Internship Program

The Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP) provides students with a part-time internship in the greater Los Angeles area. The program helps Pomona students gain valuable pre-professional experience and explore career paths, while making meaningful contributions to partnering organizations.

PCIP Summer Experience

The Career Development Office offers PCIP Summer Experience awards to provide financial support for students completing unpaid or low-paid domestic or international experiences. This program supports students to build upon their academic pursuits with experiential learning and career development opportunities. The funding helps alleviate financial barriers for living and travel expenses for a 6-8 week summer experience associated with low or unpaid opportunities.

Internship Transcript Notation

Students who are not participating in the Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP), but are participating in a semester internship, may be eligible for an Internship Transcript Notation. The CDO has been authorized by the faculty to assess internship options and, when warranted, approve internships to be notated as equivalent to one-half-course credit by those colleges that award credit for such work, on the student’s college academic record.

Finding Summer Housing

The CDO has compiled an extensive list of housing resources and opportunities in major cities throughout the US to help you find reliable housing for your summer internship.

Tax Implications

Based on the size of your summer internship grant and the items you spend the money on, there may be tax implications. Visit the Financial Aid website to learn more.
