To Add 5 College Students

If a student is on a wait list or simply interested in auditing your class:

  • In your Sakai course site, go to: Site-Info » Add Participants
  • Put their Sakai username in the TOP box on the screen. Press Continue.
  • On the next screen give them an Auditor role.
  • Press Continue twice, then Finish.

If they eventually become registered students, Sakai will automatically change their role to Student.

The only function the Auditor role does not have is the Gradebook, so Auditors would not see grades if you use a Sakai Gradebook. Otherwise they have full access to everything in the site.

Do not manually assign a Student role. If you give them a Student role, when they are not yet officially registered, Sakai will automatically remove them when it runs its enrollment scripts.

If you do not know a student’s Sakai username, please contact help@pomona.edu so we can look it up for you.

To Add Community Auditor Guest Users

  • In your Sakai course site, go to: Site Info » Add Participants
  • Put the user’s full email address in the BOTTOM box on the screen. Press Continue.
  • On the next screen, give them an Auditor role.
  • Press Continue twice, then Finish.

Sakai will email Community Auditor Guest Users a password after they have been added to the course site.

Autitors and Guest users do not use the “Login” button. They log in by using the Guest Login button on the Sakai main page. If you have Community Auditor Guest Users in your classes, it would be helpful to remind them to use the Guest Login.
