Over the past few months, ITS has had a few departures, additions, and promotions that we’d like to share with the Pomona College community:
In October, Susan Pennestri joined the ITS team as our Senior Director of Digital Learning & Operations. Susan brings with her over 15 years of experience in higher education, specializing in instructional design and technology, most recently at Georgetown University. Over the summer, Susan served as a consultant to help Pomona College prepare for an online Fall semester and beyond. In her new role, Susan will provide leadership and support on effective and innovative uses of technology for teaching, learning, and research. Susan is excited to help faculty deepen their impact on student learning by sharing and supporting the use of effective technologies and approaches in various teaching and learning modalities.
Kaelin Swift, our Instructional Project Specialist left in September to pursue new endeavors. Kaelin was with Pomona College for five years and was the face of, and brain behind, Sakai. Before leaving, Kaelin shared how grateful she was for the friendship and support that she found at Pomona College and how proud she was to be a part of the ITS team. Needless to say, Kaelin is sorely missed by all of us in ITS, but we wish her all the luck in her future endeavors.
We are pleased to share that Nick Weber has been promoted to Kaelin’s former position as our Instructional Project Specialist. Nick has been an instrumental member of the ITS team, serving as our Media Service Technician, and is always ready to take on new challenges. In this role, Nick will be providing support for Sakai and other key tools as well as offering assistance to Andrew Wilson, Director of Research Computing and Digital Scholarship with faculty projects. Nick brings to this role a passion for projects that drive meaningful academic learning through the use of technology and plans to start a Masters of Learning, Design and Technology in the coming year.
We’re happy to share that Kenzo Perkins has joined our team as our Media Service Technician, Nick’s former role. In this role, Kenzo will provide hands-on technical assistance in the operation of multimedia and distance education equipment to the Pomona College community. Kenzo brings to this position over 10 years of experience in audio-video and lighting management and is excited for the opportunity to support students, staff, and faculty with their technology needs.
Bryson McNally has also joined the ITS team. Like Kenzo, Bryson is a Media Services Technician who works with the Media Services team to troubleshoot issues that arise with audio and video equipment and software in use at Pomona College. Bryson has a wide range of experience in media services, most recently serving as an Equipment Technician in the Motion Picture and Television Department of Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Bryson is excited for the opportunity to work at Pomona College. Media work is his passion and he loves maintaining and troubleshooting audio video equipment.
Finally, Jason Brown, our former Instructional Technologist is no longer with ITS.
As always, we at ITS are here to help all members of the Pomona College community. We hope that you will welcome our new team members and celebrate the promotion of Nick Weber.
