During the COVID-19 pandemic, students, faculty, and staff are balancing a host of online educational and administrative services and software. In order to help our community excel in today’s online environment, ITS has developed a set of video tutorials for viewers to learn how to use the college’s technological resources in a safe, socially-distanced world.
Available to anyone, these tutorials were created using VidGrid, our cloud-based screen recording and editing tool, by our talented Media Services and Research and Instructional Technology Group (RITG) student workers, who primarily worked with Nick Weber, Kaelin Swift, and Andrew Wilson. In addition, anyone with a VidGrid account can access the ITS VidGrid “Org Library” which holds around 150 bite-sized video tutorials. Through the “Org Library,” the Pomona College community can access both written instructions and tutorial videos covering a variety of educational resources.
The tutorials currently available can help with the following resources:
- VidGrid - from basics to specific tool functions covering: recording, editing, captioning, sharing, quizzes, comments, etc.
- Zoom - from basics to specific tool functions covering: scheduling, running meetings, recording, screen share security, etc.
- Sakai - Tests & Quizzes, Lessons, Forums, and Wiki
- Qualtrics – how to create surveys, how to share, reports, and more
In addition, ITS is developing video tutorials for Hypothes.is, StorymapJS, and TimelineJS that will be posted soon.
If you have any further questions about how to use any of the technology available at Pomona College or need guidance on how to access the VidGrid Org Library, please do not hesitate to reach out to us here at Pomona ITS.
