Thank You Students and Congrats Seniors!

As we approach the end of the Spring 2021 semester, we would like to give a BIG thanks to all our student employees for their dedication and hard work throughout this uniquely challenging remote academic year. Your valuable time, insight, and service across geographies and time zones helped us maintain academic continuity at Pomona -- and we very much appreciate your commitment and resilience!

We'd also like to take this time to recognize and congratulate our five graduating senior student employees: Roman Ahmed, Jorge Aparicio, Rieanna Duncan, Marcel Alfonso Garcia, and Sarah Reyes Noriega. We are proud of all you have endured and accomplished to reach this great achievement.  We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. May the memories and experiences from your time at ITS and Pomona help shape your future and serve as a springboard for your professional and personal lives.  Chirp Chirp!

Read on to learn more about three of our graduating seniors and what they have planned post-Pomona:

Jorge has worked at ITS his entire Senior year, exclusively supporting Sakai, the Learning Management System serving the Claremont Colleges.  His job has primarily consisted of performing manual regression testing on the Sakai platform. Along the way he's developed skills at writing technical documentation and learning how to test a program thoroughly. After graduation, Jorge plans to work in the software engineering industry and begin an entry-level software developer position for General Motors.

Rieanna has been at ITS since the summer of 2019 and has worked on both the Client Services team and Research and Instructional Technology Group (RITG). During this time, Rieanna has become more tech-savvy by taking on projects involving Sakai testing, digitizing analog video onto Video47, and producing text-based documentation for technologies like Zoom and VidGrid, among others. Her favorite project was creating infographics which allowed her to bring out her creative side. Rieanna hopes to find an acting position in the theatre/film industry, but with all the video editing skills she's acquired, she may decide to go down that route if the opportunity arises.

During the first semester of his Freshman year in Fall 2017, Marcel started working on the Client Services team. Over his four years with ITS, he's worked on a variety of tasks-- from setting up and retrieving equipment on campus, helping community members recover their accounts, managing the lending of ITS equipment, and supporting staff members by answering tickets and calls. Through this work, Marcel has developed strong communication and technology skills which have helped him land a job as Software Developer for CME Group in Chicago, IL. In the near future, Marcel plans to pursue a master's degree in Software Engineering while working.
