A number of ITS services are available to support faculty technological needs.
Faculty Technology Training
ITS offers training on instructional tools such as Sakai and Luna Insight. New faculty are offered one-on-one ITS orientation sessions that include an overview of the Pomona networked environment and available desktop and instructional tools. Such one-on-one sessions can also be arranged for existing faculty. Contact the ITS Service Desk to make requests.
The College is a member of LACOL (Liberal Arts Consortium for Online Learning). Mary Coffey, Associate Dean and Professor of Romance Languages and Literatures, and Mark Andrejevic, Associate Professor of Media Studies, are the Pomona College LACOL co-leader representatives. For more info, see: the LACOL website.
Hahn Teaching with Technology Grants
Each Spring ITS and the Dean of the College office send out a Request for Proposals to faculty wishing special funding to support innovative uses of technology in their teaching. Hahn Awards generally range from several hundred to several thousand dollars.
Examples of Hahn grants include scanning images from 35 mm slides and storing them in our digital image library, digitizing video for use as online course content, and developing websites for projects, labs, or professional work.
TLC-ITS Faculty Development Events
The College Teaching and Learning Committee (TLC) and ITS co-sponsor events during the academic year on topics that relate to pedagogy including educational technology.
