Remote Desktop

Pomona College offers students, faculty, and staff access to commonly used software and local files through through Citrix Workspace, a web-based remote desktop environment. Citrix is accessible from almost any device, available on or off-campus, and does not require a VPN connection.

Getting Started

To download and install Citrix Workspace on your device, select the instructions below: 

Mac Installation

To install Citrix on your Mac, refer to our infographic instructions or follow the instructions detailed below:

  1. Access Citrix Workspace. Open the Pomona Citrix Workspace in your browser and sign in using your Pomona College email and password (username@pomona.edu for faculty/staff and username@mymail.pomona.edu for students). In the Permissions Requested window, select Accept. If you are currently enrolled in DUO, you may be asked to authenticate your login.
  2. Download Citrix. After logging in, you will be taken to a Welcome Citrix Workspace window. Select Detect Workspace and check the box to indicate that you agree with the Citrix License Agreement. Then, select Download and if prompted, open the file to begin the download.
  3. Install Citrix. Open the downloaded file and install Citrix Workspace. At the Add Account installation step, check Add Account and select Continue to complete installation.
  4. Add Account. To add your account to the Citrix Workplace Application, enter “pomonacollege.cloud.com” and select Add. Next, enter your Pomona College email and password (user@pomona.edu). If you are currently enrolled in DUO, you may be prompted to authenticate your login. Please note: if you receive a message that you were unable to login, reenter your username and password to proceed.
  5. Select Desktop. Select Desktops on the left to expand the menu. Select All Desktops which will display the environments you can access. Select the Desktop that represents your affiliation with the College (Faculty/Staff/Student) and the Windows desktop will load and automatically login. Please note: you may see a gray colored blank screen. This is a known bug – click anywhere within that space to display desktop.
  6. Start Working. Once you’ve logged in, you will see what appears to be a Windows computer. From this screen you can access basic software such as Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Windows Installation

To install Citrix on a Windows computer, refer to our infographic instructions or follow the instructions detailed below:

  1. Access Citrix Workspace. Open the Pomona Citrix Workspace in your browser and sign in using your Pomona College email and password (username@pomona.edu for faculty/staff and username@mymail.pomona.edu for students). In the Permissions Requested window, select Accept. If you are currently enrolled in DUO, you may be asked to authenticate your login.
  2. Download Citrix. After logging in, you will be taken to a Welcome Citrix Workspace window. Select Detect Workspace. You will be prompted to download and install the Citrix Workspace application. If you encounter any issues, follow the troubleshooting instructions on Step 3, otherwise, skip to Step 4.
  3. Download Troubleshooting. If the process gets stuck or does not prompt the download, you may see a window stating Citrix is searching to detect if Citrix Workspace is already installed. Try selecting Detect Again. If that does not work, select Already Installed. On the next screen, select your name in the upper right corner and choose Account Settings. Select Download to download Citrix Workspace and then follow the prompt to install it.
  4. Install Citrix. Follow the prompt to install Citrix Workspace. When you are asked to enable App protection or to enable Single Sign-on, leave the boxes unchecked.
  5. Add Account. To add your account, select Add Account after the install is complete. Enter “pomonacollege.cloud.com” to Citrix Workspace and select Add. Next, enter your Pomona College email and password (user@pomona.edu). If you are currently enrolled in DUO, you may be prompted to authenticate your login. Please note: if you receive a message that you were unable to login, reenter your username and password to proceed.
  6. Select Desktop. Select Desktops on the left to expand the menu. Select All Desktops which will display the environments you can access. Select the Desktop that represents your affiliation with the College (Faculty/Staff/Student) and the Windows desktop will load and automatically login.  Please note: you may see a gray colored blank screen. iPad Installation

To install Citrix on your iPad, refer to our infographic instructions or follow the instructions detailed below:

  1. Download Citrix Workspace. In the Apple App Store, search for Citrix Workplace and install.
  2. Configure Citrix Workspace. On the welcome page, enter “pomonacollege.cloud.com” and select Continue. On the Microsoft login screen, enter your Pomona College email account and password (username@pomona.edu for faculty/staff and username@mymail.pomona.edu for students). If you are currently enrolled in DUO, you may be prompted to authenticate your login.
  3. Select Desktop. Select Desktops on the left to expand the menu then select All Desktops. Select the Desktop that represents your affiliation with the College (Faculty/Staff/Student) and the Windows desktop will load and automatically login.  Note: you may see a black colored blank screen. This is a known bug – click anywhere within that space to display the login prompt. If you are not using a keyboard you will need to click the down arrow at the top of the page and select the keyboard icon to type.
  4. Start Working. Once you’ve logged in, you will see what appears to be a Windows computer. From this screen you can access basic software such as Microsoft Outlook, Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
