Welcome to Office 365

Pomona is in the process of upgrading our e-mail services to the cloud-based Office 365. This will provide all faculty and staff with a modern, reliable webmail interface, the ability to use the Microsoft Office Online applications, the ability to install the Microsoft Office productivity suite of software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) on up to 5 computers, and 1TB of OneDrive cloud-based disk storage.

Your e-mail addresses will remain the same and all your e-mail will be upgraded to the new server. Office 365 works with all popular mail clients, so if you use Outlook or another mail client, your day-to-day access to e-mail should remain unchanged. Webmail, however, has received a significant feature and interface overhaul.

ITS will work with your department on a case-by-case basis regarding Public/Shared folders and calendars during the upgrade period.

Getting Started

Just as with the previous e-mail server, there are many ways to access your Pomona e-mail using Office365.

Online via Webmail (OWA):

To log in, use as your username (where loginID is your 8-character Pomona username, e.g. along with your Pomona password.

Please note that the Internet address to access Webmail has changed. You will need to use this address through the upgrade period. Once everyone has been upgraded to the new server, the familiar address will be re-pointed to the new system.

Microsoft Outlook:

In many cases, the first time you open Microsoft Outlook after the upgrade, you will be prompted to allow it to discover the new server settings. You may be prompted several times to allow the autodiscovery process. You should Allow the changes.

Mobile Devices:

Your smartphone or tablet may require a setting change or that you remove and re-add your profile.
