Connect with a Student

Let’s face it: Pomona students have the best handle on what academics, social life and opportunities are like at Pomona. They’ve studied abroad, conducted research with faculty, gained funding for internships, registered for classes, competed in conference finals, served as peer tutors, sampled seven dining halls and made lifelong friends. Wouldn’t you want to ask them questions?

Our student interns work alongside us during the academic year, and our summer fellows keep us company during the summer months. They help us connect with prospective students and families on campus and through virtual programs. Feel welcome to email them questions or to request a Zoom chat by clicking on their names.

Class year: Senior

Hometown: Tanza, Philippines; Sacramento, California

Majors: Molecular Biology

Campus Activities: International Student Mentorship Program (ISMP), Kasama Filipinx/American Student Association, Claremont Colleges Transfer Student Association, Asian American Mentor Program (AAMP)

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): SURP was probably my most significant and meaningful Pomona experience, but other memories I’ve enjoyed so far were Ski–Beach Day and almost all ISMP or international events like the biweekly ISMP Snacks!

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): I can't possibly choose one, so here's my top 3: surprising my friends with a fountaining at midnight, alterna break with the Draper Center, and definitely Orientation Adventure.

Luke R. Davis '24

Class Year: Senior

Hometown: Santa Clarita, California

Majors: Politics

Campus Activities: As a transfer student, most of my campus activities involve everything transfer-related. Transfer student's most frequent activity is dining together. In the early season of the Fall 2022 semester, we would go to Hoch Shanahan dining hall at Harvey Mudd but for the rest of that semester and the next, we would dine at Mallot Dining Hall at Scripps College. Other than dining, hanging out in each other's rooms or the Smiley 3rd floor hallway was great! And I can't forget to mention the 9:55pm Coop Fountain snack runs or the few birthday dunkings we had in the SCC fountain. That was great. The main campus activity I participated in independently, even though a few transfer students (or one) would come along, was karaoke night starting at 8pm in Coop Fountain.

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): It's quite difficult to have a favorite moment when there are many great moments and people you meet when here. I'd say a favorite class was Murder and Mystery: Imperial China, a history class at CMC. A runner-up would be California Politics coming second, where we had a class trip to the California State Capitol and another second place would be Unbridled Power: the U.S. Presidency where we had great class discussion and an applied final project.

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): So many! At the top of the list are definitely seeing snow for the first time on Pomona’s Annual Ski-Beach Day and having the opportunity to go to my first NBA game.

Leandre Nsabimana Ndisanze ‘25

Hometown: Gakenke, Rwanda

Majors: Chemistry, Theatre (minor)

Campus Activities: Pomona Black Students Union, African Students Association, First Generation and/or Low Income Scholars (FLI), International Student Mentor Program (ISMP), Rwandan Students Association

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): It is cumbersome to narrow the memories to just one! Memorable ones include weekend getaways to LA, reading novels on Martson Quad, Sunday brunch at Frank, and trying out new dishes in the village.

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): Exploring Big Bridges with my friend Zarmina. We went on the main stage, explored the balcony, went through the museum down stairs, went in all of the bathrooms, and we had a blast playing with the echo.

Leslie Paz `24

Class year: Senior

Hometown: Banning, California

Majors: Late Antique-Medieval Studies

Campus Activities: Center for Speaking, Writing, and the Image (CSWIM) Partner, LEAF Mentor Program, Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow

Katie Stuart '25

she, her

Class year: Junior

Hometown: Poulsbo, Washington

Majors: Romance Languages and Literatures, Linguistics (minor)

Campus Activities: Coordinator for the LINC program at the Draper Center, Circus Club, several dance clubs and classes, Oldenborg

Favorite Pomona memory (so far): Meeting my closest friends in the Oldenborg French hall my sophomore year! We would always set up our chairs and pillows in the hallway and hang out together, whether we were doing homework, playing card games, or playing with my friend’s dog. Oldenborg is one of my favorite things about Pomona, and it’s a huge reason why I chose to come here!
