
Pomona College is happy to welcome back members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 for a campus celebration on May 20-22, 2022.
The weekend schedule includes festivities for graduates starting Friday, May 20 and ending with brunch on Sunday, May 22. Families are invited to join their graduates in a day of Pomona traditions, including the special Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 21. Please note that the ceremony takes place outdoors in a grassy area, rain or shine. Please prepare accordingly. Watch this page for more details about the weekend schedule as we work with Class leadership and academic departments to plan special activities for each Class.
The registration deadline for both graduate participants and guests has passed. We look forward to celebrating the Classes of 2020 and 2021 this month!

11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Departmental Programming
Join our Pomona College department receptions in celebration of our graduates' achievements.

Noon, Take Two Event Check-in Begins
Welcome back to campus! All registered graduates must check in to document COVID-19 vaccination or test status and to receive their meal cards, caps and gowns, name badges, schedules and other items necessary for event attendance. Graduates who are staying on campus will also receive keys and access cards.
Noon - 1:30 p.m., Lunch in Frary Dining Hall
Grab a nostalgic meal in the dining hall!
7 - 8:30 p.m., Dinner
Reminisce with your classmates over a meal! The Class of 2021 will dine on Marston Quad and the Class of 2020 will dine in Frary Dining Hall.
9 - 11 p.m., Class Parties
Continue the evening with individual class parties on campus. Locations provided at event check-in.

8 a.m., Take Two Check-in Continues
Welcome back to campus! 8 - 10 a.m., Breakfast in Frary Dining Hall
Start your day with a meal in the dining hall.
10 a.m., Class of 2020 Photo
Join classmates on the steps of Carnegie Hall for an official class photo.
*10:30 - 11 a.m., Class of 2020 Through the Gates
Immediately following the Class of 2020 photo on the Carnegie Hall Steps, families are invited to join as Class of 2020 graduates complete this Pomona tradition of exiting campus through the Gates at 6th St. and College Ave. The class parade will end at Marston Quad.
11 a.m., Class of 2021 Photo
Join classmates on the steps of Carnegie Hall for an official class photo.
*11:30 a.m. - Noon, Class of 2021 Through the Gates

Graduates and families are invited to a special luncheon on Marston Quad to celebrate the occasion.
*3 - 5 p.m., Commencement Ceremony
This combined ceremony for the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will allow students to walk across the stage to celebrate their achievements.
Graduates should assemble on the Fourth Street Pedestrian Walk at 2:30 p.m. in cap and gown to line up for the procession. Cap and gown return will take place on Stover Walk immediately following the ceremony.
6 - 7:30 p.m., Dinner in Frary Dining Hall
Grab a meal in the dining hall with fellow graduates.
9 - 11 p.m., Combined Class Party
Join members of the Class of 2020 and 2021 for an on-campus celebration. Location provided at event check-in.

All Sunday activities are for graduates only.
8 a.m., Event Check-out Begins
All registered guests must return their meal cards and room keys. Information regarding additional quick check-out locations will be provided at event check-in.
11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Brunch in Frary Dining Hall

Invited Participants
Take Two is a chance for graduates of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 to participate in an in-person ceremony since these activities were canceled due to COVID-19 restrictions. This includes alumni who completed their degree requirements in the Summer 2019, Fall 2019, Spring 2020, Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 terms. Consistent with prior years, graduates who completed their degree requirements in the Summer and Fall 2021 terms will participate in the May 13-15, 2022 Commencement activities.
Faculty Speakers
Each class nominated Pomona College faculty members to deliver the address to their class at the Take Two Commencement ceremony. The speaker for the Class of 2020 is Associate Professor of Chemistry Jane Liu and the speaker for the Class of 2021 is John Sutton Miner Professor of History and Professor of Classics Ken Wolf.
Financial Assistance for Travel
Members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021 for whom traveling to the celebration will cause financial hardship are eligible for financial assistance related to the following eligible expenses: coach airfare, bus fare, train tickets, visa applications (for international travel), auto mileage reimbursement and shuttle or rideshare service to/from travel terminals. Off-campus lodging is not eligible for reimbursement through this financial assistance process. Graduates may request financial assistance during online registration.
On-Campus Housing and Meals
All graduates are invited to stay on campus in selected South Campus residence halls, Friday and Saturday nights at no cost, and meals will be provided. Graduates may reserve on-campus housing during online registration. Guests, including family, friends and significant others, are not allowed to enter the residence halls.
Graduates who will be staying in the residence halls will be required to show proof of vaccination or provide a negative PCR test result dated within 48 hours of arrival on campus. This documentation must include the individual's name and birth date, and must be presented upon check-in along with a photo ID.

At this time, family members and guests are not permitted inside campus buildings. We also ask that everyone wear masks at all times, except when eating/drinking or briefly removing them for outdoor photos. Graduates may remove their masks before crossing the stage. Thank you for doing your part to keep our community safe.

For Families
Families are invited to join their graduates on Saturday, May 21, for a day of Pomona College traditions. The schedule of events outlines the activities that families may attend. There is no limit to the number of guests that may attend, but please RSVP for all guests.
Getting to Campus and Lodging Options
Families and guests who plan to attend the celebration must arrange their own lodging and transportation.

Attending the Celebration
Registration is required to attend the celebration. The Commencement ceremony will be live streamed for family members who cannot attend in person. A viewing link will be posted on this page when it is available.
Guest/Disability Services
Services available to guests for the celebration are listed below. Unless otherwise noted, use of these services does not require a special request or reservation.

- ADA-compliant seating areas (Please reserve ADA-compliant seating during online registration. Each person may bring one companion into the seating section.)
- ASL interpreting (Please request ASL interpreting services during online registration.)
- Closed captioning (available in Bridges Hall of Music or a personal smart device)
- Hearing assistance devices
- Shuttle service between the ceremony area and the South Campus parking structure
- Interpretation services in Spanish and Mandarin (Please request language interpretation services during online registration.)

Flower Bouquets and Leis
Sherwood Florist, a local Claremont establishment, provides a special assortment of leis and bouquets at a discount for Pomona College families who pre-order for Commencement. Flowers ordered in advance can be picked up on campus on Saturday, May 21 in the Smith Campus Center Courtyard before the Take Two Commencement ceremony. Please note that flowers will not be available for sale on campus – only pick-ups of pre-orders. Sherwood Florist donates 10% of the proceeds from these sales to Pomona College's Student Emergency Fund.
Orders for other flower arrangements can be placed directly with Sherwood Florist by calling 909-625-3309.
Please note that orders must be placed by Monday, May 2 to ensure availability for pick-up on campus prior to the Commencement ceremony. Orders placed after Monday, May 2 may not be completed by Saturday, May 21.
