Important Public Health/COVID Reminders (12/13/22)

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are writing to let you know that Los Angeles County recently moved into the high community level of COVID-19 as designated by the CDC.

Public health officials also note that “the stress on the healthcare system is compounded by high rates of influenza and other respiratory illnesses.”

If you have not already done so, we strongly recommend that everyone who is eligible receive the new bivalent vaccine booster for COVID-19. Flu shots also are highly recommended. Appointments for both are widely available through the state appointment site.

If you are sick, please do not come to work. If you have COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive through another source, such as your doctor or a home test, please let Nurse Stephanie Garcia-Barragan ( in the Hamilton Health Box clinic know immediately. Regular testing hours for faculty and staff continue this week.

Additional information is found on our COVID-19 web, including FAQs on masking, vaccination and other topics. As the semester winds down, let's continue to work together as a community to promote public health.
