Los Angeles County Holds Off on Returning Indoor Mask Requirements (7/28/22)

Dear Pomona College Community,

Los Angeles County Department of Public Health announced today that the indoor mask mandate will not return at this time, since COVID-19 case counts and hospitalizations have started to edge down.

A few weeks ago, with cases on the rise, the county had announced that indoor masking requirements were likely to return July 29.

With the county's announcement today, Pomona's mask policy remains unchanged:

  • All members of our community who are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines are strongly encouraged, but not required, to wear masks when indoors.
  • Members of our community who are not up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccines must wear a mask at all times when indoors.

We will continue to update the community on new developments, and we ask that everyone maintain their vigilance as we continue to have cases on campus.

Sincerely,

Avis Hinkson, vice president for student affairs and dean of students
Robert Robinson, assistant vice president, facilities
Yuqing Melanie Wu, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college
