The Politics Department of Pomona College is hosting “Comics, Afrofuturism, and the Black Superhero,” a month-long lecture series running each Friday through February.

Speakers include Dr. Mzilikazi Kone of UC-Riverside, Dr. Peace Amadi of Hope International University, Dr. Frances Gateward of California State–Northridge, professional cosplayer Krystina Arielle, prison abolitionist Amber-Rose Howard, and two PhD students who will be speaking about Black feminism and religion: Nikia Robert of Claremont School of Theology and Tamisha Tyler of Fuller Theological Seminary.

The series is sponsored by the Political Theology Network, Pomona College’s Religious Studies Department, Pomona College’s Politics Department, and the McAlister Center for Religious Activities. Pizza will be served and comic books will be raffled at each event.
