EnviroLab Asia is a 5C project that encourages scholarship on environmental issues in Asia. Over the summer, various students received support from EnviroLab Asia to conduct research in Asia.  This colloquium brings together students to share their initial reflections and findings.  


  • Allison Joseph, environmental analysis and psychology: “The Khit Kala of Mahachai: Daughters of migrant workers explore notions of their own feminine identity model through photography and artistic self-expression” (Myanmar)
  • Laura Zhang '19, cognitive science: “Moon Bears: An Unexpected Project in Design and Traditional Medicine" (Vietnam)
  • Marcus Liu '20, Asian studies: “Urban Parks as Leisure Spaces for Elderly Chinese” (China)
  • Eugine Choo '19, Asian studies w/ gender studies concentration: “Desirable and Undesirable Leisure: Analyzing Urban Parks as Leisure Spaces for Elderly South Koreans” (Korea)
