Conductor Eric Lindholm leads the Pomona College Orchestra in a program of music by Brahms and others, with special guest—winner of the 2019 Orchestra Concerto Competition.
The Orchestra is one of the largest and most prestigious performing organizations on campus and has a long tradition as an important creative and cultural outlet for the members of The Claremont Colleges. The orchestra engages faculty or guest soloists each season. Through the department’s annual concerto competition, student soloists have presented pieces from Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5 (“Emperor”) to Britten’s Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings. During the season, the orchestra engages music from all across the repertoire, including major works by Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Schubert, Stravinsky, Shostakovich, and many others.
The program is a repeat of the Friday, November 22, 8 p.m. performance.
