We’re excited to bring back our artist-led workshops this winter inspired by the Benton’s fall exhibitions—Open Sky, Instrumental Image, and Roy Thurston: Recent Work to reflect on our sense of place in the universe.
Workshops are $20 per class, and all materials are provided. Sign-up using this registration form.
In "The Ecology of Space: Mapping the Senses," you will explore how different senses—sight, sound, smell, touch, and even memory—combine to create a unique sense of place. Anna will teach you to translate these senses into a color palette to create artwork that reflects your experience exploring Open Sky, using color, texture, and form to map your own personal connection to the environment.
Anna Wingfield is an artist based in LA who works in monotypes, exploring the sense of place and the passage of time through color and texture from her natural surroundings. She mixes printmaking techniques with different methods of applying ink onto copper plates, creating fluid movements of color that capture surrounding topographies.
