An internship is available for a student to work full-time at the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College for a ten-week period between June 5th and August 25th, 2023. The Getty Marrow Internship is intended for members of groups currently under-represented in museums and the visual arts, particularly individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent.
The internship will specifically focus on assisting the Associate Director/Registrar and Collections Manager in projects specifically focused on Collections Management, Registration and Collections-centric research. Working with Museum staff, the intern’s responsibilities will include assisting the Collections team in a variety of tasks related to collection care, including object photography, cataloguing, database management, image scanning, measuring object dimensions, and compiling exhibition histories and bibliographic citations. This summer’s internship will also focus on the ongoing care and cataloguing of our Native American Collection.
Depending upon the skills and interest of the intern, other opportunities may include working with education and curatorial staff with research in the collection and its potential curricular connections to courses across college departments. A combination of on-site and remote work is possible.
The intern will attend learning events sponsored by the Getty Trust during the internship period and will be required to submit a detailed report at its conclusion.
DEADLINE: April 14, 2023
