Tasks include: researching the Benton's permanent collection and exhibitions for virtual class visits, researching potential course connections with the museum, assisting with digital presentations of material for classes, and assisting the Academic Curator with researching, planning, advertising and executing academic events, symposia, gallery talks and intern program events at the museum.

The Benton Museum of Art has a paid Community Arts Engagement Internship, supervised by Assistant Director for Engagement, Justine Bae Bias and K-12 Education Specialist, Rich Deely, available for both fall and spring semesters. This intern position will support and implement creative engagement events and programs for local/regional communities and community partner agencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing artist-led workshops inspired by the Benton’s current exhibitions
- Collaborating with other community engagement groups across the 7Cs
- Partnering with local non-profit organizations in various ways at the intersection of visual arts and the Benton's resources
- Working with K-12 education outreach interns to develop content-based collateral.

The Benton Museum of Art is offering paid year-long internships in Education Outreach. These internships, supervised by Associate Director/Registrar Steve Comba and K-12 Education Specialist Rich Deely, provide a unique opportunity to develop and lead exhibition and collection-based lessons, as well as contribute to new educational initiatives.
This internship is designed as a year-long teaching experience, primarily focused on delivering engaging content to elementary school students during the fall and spring semesters. Interns will work to deliver current 3rd and 4th grade lesson series, as well as further pilot 6th grade lessons, presenting them in both school classrooms and the Museum’s galleries, including the Native American Collection Study Center (NACSC). Your responsibilities will include researching collections, refining lesson plans, and co-teaching lessons with the education specialist.
Beyond regular work with young learners, interns will have the chance to create hands-on art activities and develop/pilot new lesson series for 5th grade, and high school/secondary audiences, providing valuable visual arts resources for teachers and students. There may also be opportunities to produce educational videos or publications for use in classrooms and the Museum, as well as to collaborate with community organizations that serve K-12 audiences.
We are looking for candidates who have a background or a strong interest in working with K-12 students and are available to teach museum programs on Fridays. Collaboration is central to our work, so individuals with prior experience or a keen interest in public presentations, museum/art education, Native art and art history, or who have connections to indigenous communities are especially encouraged to apply.

The Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College has paid Gallery Talks Co-Director Intern positions, reporting to Director Victoria Sancho Lobis and Academic Curator Salim Moore to organize and run the ongoing gallery talk series from a student-centered perspective.
Responsibilities include:
- Organizing speakers to present recurring 20-minute focused talks in the museum galleries
- Researching exhibition content
- Researching and contacting potential speakers, including 7C students and faculty and the Claremont community
- Overseeing and moderating the talks and discussion
- Advertising the gallery talk series.
Interns will attend bi-weekly meetings with their cohort.

The Museum is offering a paid internship position to work with Assistant Director for Engagement, Justine Bae Bias to make the Benton an integral component of campus life through Student-Centered Programming.
Student-Centered Programming Intern(s) are required to attend weekly planning meetings (day/time to be determined) as well as monthly internship development meetings culminating in a presentation at the end of each semester. Interns must be able to accommodate shifts on late afternoons/evenings and weekends. Weekly commitment will vary, depending on the calendar of events at the Benton.
Responsibilities include:
- Publicizing Benton events and exhibitions by distributing flyers across campus and posting on student listservs
- Setting up and breaking down tables and chairs
- Hosting, introducing, and supporting collaborative partners for co-sponsored events
- Reaching out to other students and student groups across the consortium
- Organize student-centered events collaborating with Pomona College and other Claremont Colleges students through class years, 5C/7C groups, academic cohorts, mentorship programs, affinity groups, and other campus departments in student or academic affairs
- Generate ideas for student-centered programs and events

The Benton Museum of Art has a paid Museum Ambassador Internship, supervised by visitor services manager Nilofar Naraghi, available for both fall and spring semesters. This position will support the museum's front of house operations and will engage with audiences both public and campus-based on a regular basis. Students must be available for two 3 hour shifts per week during public hours from Thursday to Sunday.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving as attendants to protect artworks on view
- Staffing internal and external events
- Working with curatorial, collections, and education staff to draft talking points about current exhibitions
Museum Ambassadors should be highly personable in interacting with public and campus-based audiences while being attentive to protecting the artworks on view. Students who are multilingual are especially encouraged to apply.
