Join us for our fall artist-led workshop series Spaces & Places, designed by our community arts engagement intern Yadira Barrales '26. Inspired by the current exhibition Line, Smudge, Shade: Contemporary Drawing in Our Los Angeles, each workshop will explore site-specific techniques.
Learn to sketch from observation while using the Benton as a site of inspiration led by artist Carly Lake.
Carly will share a brief presentation about how the local ecology and urban environment shapes her drawing and art practice as a whole. Participants will learn how to bind their own sketchbooks to use for the drawing exercises in this workshop. Then, moving through the Benton's current exhibitions, we will explore personal memory and reflect on our local landscape through various modes of mark making.
The workshops are $20 per person, with some materials provided. Space is limited so sign up today!
