New discoveries by Prof. Robert Gaines and his research partner Jean-Bernard Caron were the subject of The Globe and Mail article "In search of old life, fossil hunters unearth more questions than answers." Gaines and Caron have made their latest discoveries near Stanley Glacier in British Columbia's Kootenay National Park. They have already uncovered 10 never before seen creatures, in Canada's Burgess Shale. "I've already found more animals in a half day here than I did in six years there," Gaines says.
Gaines, a member of the faculty since 2003, is an associate professor of geology and chair of the Geology Department at Pomona College.
