In a lecture on September 11, 2013, Pomona College Professor of Biology Len Seligman recounted the trials and tribulations of being an expert witness in a biotechnology patent lawsuit. Results from Seligman's lab were used as prior art to shore up the patent of a biotech firm in France. However, Professor Seligman became an expert witness for the small firm on the other side of the courtroom.
