This year’s post-Commencement tour by the Pomona College Glee Club, under the leadership of conductor Donna M. Di Grazia, takes the ensemble to northern and central Italy to perform a classical, all-a cappella program in some of the most resonant ecclesiastical spaces in Europe. Among the performance venues are St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and Chiesa di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria an UNESCO site in Pisa.

The 2016 Glee Club boasts an elite membership of 31 singers, all who passed a rigorous audition, and is part of Pomona’s rich choral tradition that began in the late 1800s. Today it continues with two mixed-voice ensembles: the larger College Choir and the Glee Club.

Recent tour destinations have included London, Kraków, Wrocław, Leipzig, Dresden, Prague, New York, Chicago, Boston, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Seattle, Honolulu and Vancouver, British Columbia. The group has sung by invitation at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, at the famous Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Germany, at the Cathedral Basilica in St. Louis, at St. Ignatius of Antioch Church in New York City and the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

The Italy tour follows on the heels of three campus performances earlier this semester, in addition to singing at baccalaureate and Commencement. All performances are open to the public. For more information, contact the Department of Music at (909) 621-8155 or
