Recruiting Sagehens

Recruiters are welcome virtually or in person!

Welcome Recruiters to the Pomona College Career Development Office. Whether you're a PO Alum, or simply a firm believer in the value of a liberal arts education, we invite you to engage with our students. If you're looking for top candidates for an internship opportunity, or a full-time position, your organization can interview on campus, host an information session, or post opportunities through Handshake, our online job portal.

If you're a PO alum, we can also share an opportunity through our Sagehen-to-Sagehen program where we email opportunities with a special logo indicating that the career opportunity is from a Pomona College alum, including your contact information to connect you to interested students directly. If your employer is located in the Los Angeles area and has a low-paying or unpaid internship they may be eligible to participate in the Pomona College Internship Program. All other opportunities are shared via our weekly newsletter!

  • Campus Visitors will be asked to wear masks and need to fill out a health check form.
  • Reserve a campus event or interview rooms on Handshake or by email: recruiting@pomona.edu

Host an Information Session

One way to recruit Pomona College students is through an information session. During an information session, you can present your organization, inform students about open positions or programs, and build relationships with students.

Information Sessions may be done virtually or in person. For virtual events, be sure to include the Zoom or video conferencing link in the posting. Let us know if we can record the session to be added to our CDO online video channel. For assistance, email recruiting@pomona.edu

Interviews

We are happy to coordinate virtual or in-person interview schedules for you. To learn how, email recruiting@pomona.edu

Coffee Chats & Office Hours

Log on to Handshake. Choose “Events” from the left navigation. Click the “Request Event” tab in the upper right corner. Complete the form and “Request Event”.

Coffee Chats are usually short informal one-hour drop-in style Q&As with students.

Office Hours are usually a timeframe when students can sign up one-on-one with you to ask questions.

Post a Micro-Internship

Don’t have a formal internship program but need a student to do a quick project? Post your project on our micro-internship page.

Projects are usually short term and paid up to $1000.

Post Opportunities

Handshake is the CDOs platform for sharing jobs, internships, events, and fairs. All available job and internship opportunities can be posted through Handshake.

Skill Development Series

Students would like to learn from employers and alumni. You can set up a resume & cover letter workshop specific to your field. You can also do an interview workshop to discuss topics such as case or technical interviewing. For example, you could do a live resume review workshop where student submit documents in advance. Are you a clothing brand? Perhaps you could host a “how to dress for a virtual interview” workshop.

We are open suggested topics as well!

Email recruiting@pomona.edu to set something up.

Social Media Takeover

Taking over our Instagram or TikTok account to do a “Live Stream” can be a fun way to engage with students.

Reach out to recruiting@pomona.edu to learn more!

Virtual Treks

Present a video of what it is like to work for your organization including a recorded or live tour. Discuss a “day in the life”. This could even include tips for being productive in a remote environment.

The videos can be pre-recorded messages from key executives or alumni that work with you. Variety is key in a virtual trek to differentiate this event from info sessions. Have a collection of short segments.

Include breakout sessions for networking. Have prepared questions in case students don’t have their own. To encourage questions, give students a research prep assignment.

We can control the schedule and video conferencing if you wish. It is a good idea to lock the meeting after it starts to prevent distraction. Remind students to mute sound during presentations.

We can collect resumes from registrants ahead of time. Let us know if we can record sessions to share with other students. We’d like to take screenshots for social media if possible. It’d be a good idea for you to do the same!

Email recruiting@pomona.edu to learn more about how you can set up a fun day with students!
